All registered students of Studio 46 Music Study Center are eligible for
Add-On classes at the studio. The add-on classes for the 2008-2009 have not yet been
finalized but are scheduled to begin in March.
Only registered students of Studio 46 who are enrolled in private music
studies can apply for these Add-On courses.
Our add-on classes are specific to student needs and requests. Generally, a Theory and an Improv class is available and sessions for the classes commence, usually a
couple months after general registration in Sep/Oct and Jan/Feb. Classes
are formed on a revolving schedule throughout the calendar year.
Add-on classes offer an additional 4-8hrs./month of
instruction, on a classroom level, for our private students. Additionally, the
add-on classes are of low-cost. (Typically for an additional $30-$50/monthly
rate).
Typically limited to a maximum of six (6) students in order that individual
attention may be given to each student, and with a 4-12 week course length,
add-on classes are unique in that they focus on a key aspect of musicianship
which is meant to supplement the regular weekly private lesson. Usually the "key
aspect" involves a specific technique or playing style (e.g. "sweep-picking" and
advanced "whammy-bar" studies for guitarists) -or- the class may be designed to
place students together in working groups to teach elements of ensemble playing
(e.g. duets and trios for vocal students). Classes are also formed at key times
to reinforce elements of musicianship (e.g. music theory reviews prior to
college auditions in the fall and spring).
Please note however that class instruction does have a strict attendance
policy and there are no refunds or make ups offered to students who miss
attendance with the sole exception of classes which are cancelled by the studio
or the instructor. In this case only the class plan is extended an
additional week.
We will announce this year's program of Add-On Courses shortly but here is a
general idea of what is currently under consideration:
- Finger-styling for the Rock Guitarist (Prerequisite: min. 1 year guitar
experience)
- Slap and Pop Techniques for Bass Guitarists (Intermediate/Advanced only)
- Fake Book Realizations for Beginning Pianists
- Advanced Fake Book Styles for the Intermediate Pianist (Prerequisit)
