About
Studio 46
The Studio 46 Music Study Center is located in Hackettstown, New Jersey. After
renovating an old movie theatre and building studio rehearsal units, we first opened our
doors in 1987, with only two instructors and a few dozen students. Since then, we have
grown to the size of one of the largest and most respected music schools in the Northwest
New Jersey and Delaware Water Gap areas, currently, with sixteen professional instructors
and an annual roster of over 300 students.
We are the first music school in
the area to be founded as a school system, not as an addendum to a retail
music dealership, and we remain different from a retail music store
with "lessons" in several key areas! Music education has always been and will always remain our primary goal. We
offer a wide variety of study programs on most instruments and voice. Our instructors are
among the finest in the area; many with over twenty years teaching experience! And our
staff is united in one key way: Our love of teaching the Music Arts.
As our school developed, we soon realized that support for our student body
in key areas such as printed music, musical accessories sales, and even
eventually, computerized music publication, copyright preparation and most
recently (2006) even the art of recording were in
demand. Because we care about our students and their music education, we
actively pursued these requests.
Within two years, we expanded the school by adding a retail department for
musical accessories, printed sheet music, and band instrument rentals. We have a
large selection of popular and classical music and methodologies. We also have
accessories for wind, brass, string instruments at deeply discount prices that
students can afford! What we do NOT have is a large amount of heavy
equipment. We kept our focus on the requests for a retail department that
supported the needs of a student body. Our experience and commitment to focus on
music education, rather than retail sales has paid off over the years
because our students know they are getting quality music education without a
hitch for sale concerns. They know they can trust us for the best prices on
musical accessories and for honest referrals to local retailers when it comes to
equipment purchases.
In 1992 we began to offer copyist and transcription services to first, our
student body, and eventually, to the community. We have prepared scores for our
students, prepared photo-ready scores for local musicians that have made their
way to various publishers and popular magazines, and have worked with composers
who are members of ASCAP, all, originally in hand produced manuscript. That
department expanded as technology expanded. Our staff now includes experts in
popular programs such as Finale®, Sibelius®
and other popular computer notation programs, but we still do manual copy graph
as well.
Most recently, we have again expanded to offer courses in recording
technology. Our new courses in Recording Engineering will start soon (Fall
2006). Additional, we have created an online forum (using the popular YaBB
software) for the local community and our students.
We have answered these popular requests from our student body!
We hope that you will enjoy our efforts to bring our enthusiasm for the Music Arts to
the Web, and invite you to explore our Web Pages!
