Jazz Studies

JAZZ Studies at Studio 46 are offered as a separate course of study for intermediate and advanced students only, on most major instruments. Rates are $22.00 per half hour, (average $88/ 4 wk. month).

Prerequisites

Students of Jazz Theory must meet the following basic music theory and musicianship requirements in order to be accepted into the Jazz studies program:

  • Comprehension of music intervals, (maj. min. perfect, etc.).
  • Performance of the B-slat Concert Scale.
  • Knowledge of the construction of Major and Minor scales.
  • The 60 basic Major, Minor, Diminished and Augmented Triads, and their inversions.

The above mentioned prerequisites are what constitutes a basic "Fundamentals of Music Theory" Course, and may be learned independently, through most public school systems at a Junior or Senior Level, or privately, with an instructor of Studio 46.
