Thom Polinski -
[Guitar, 5-String Banjo, Mandolin]
A versatile musician and visual artist, Tom Polinski
was born and raised in the Poconos, PA. Tom was initially influenced to play
and study music by his brother, Walter, and a childhood friend, nationally
known guitarist GE Smith, a former member of the Saturday Night
Live Band.
While attending college, Tom studied
classical guitar under Russell Ferrara, and obtained a degree in fine
arts in music and art. Additional studies were held with Spencer Reed
and Robert Shick. Tom then focused his studies on the early blues
men, such as the Rev. Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt and Elmore
James, and studies of the finger picking virtuoso Stefan Grossman.
Tom has also performed in numerous bands, and
has taught private lessons. both locally and out of the area in the last 25
years. Joining the staff of Studio 46 in 2000, Tom looks forward to teaching
students of music his varied knowledge!

Bob Pomicter, Jr. -
[Proprietor: Guitarist, Administration, Copyist/Transcriber]
Bob Pomicter began his love affair with music at age four when
first introduced to music notation by his uncle, Charles, an amateur
accordionist. His parent's fondness of classical music provided an exposure,
at an early age, that was to form a foundation for a life-long study and
appreciation of the music arts. At age nine, Bob was accepted as a private
student of jazz guitarist and radio show celebrity, Joseph Bednarek, in
Wilkes-Barre, PA. and by age seventeen, was hired as a full time teacher of the
guitar at a local music studio. He has pursued teaching in the private
sector ever since.
In his mid 20's, Bob studied classical guitar with Professor
Fred Diezel, and music theory with Dr. John Gorman of CCM. He was musical
director at Theatre in the Green in Flemington, NJ for the 1975 season
where he arranged and directed music for a Renaissance Consort in a
production of Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream".
The pursuit of his personal music education through the
private sector, though unconventional, has nevertheless provided the
"spin-off" for the creation of Studio 46. "I've been rather fortunate to
have had wonderfully inspired teachers that believed not only in their art,
but in their own abilities to communicate its purpose and content both
dynamically and eloquently", Bob says. He believes that feedback is critical; both good and bad,
and takes great delight in continually
hearing from the many students he has taught over the 30+ years of teaching
in the Hackettstown area. Many of them now have careers of their own in the music industry,
from Professors of Music, to professional performers, recording artists and
even programmers of music in PC games.
In 1987, Bob opened Studio 46, and has had the pleasure of
working with numerous colleagues devoted to the art of music education ever
since. In his spare time, Bob co-founded in 1997, with colleague George Akehurst, the Stone Soup Symphony.
Bob is an avid fan of all forms of
music, computers, satellite TV and Radio, Rugby, and collecting foreign
films and film soundtracks. A supporter of Kiwanis, Bob was honored with the
Distinguished Secretary Award NJ District, and Certificate of
Administrative Excellence for his term of Secretary in the Kiwanis Club of
Mt. Olive Twp. 1996-1998.
